AST Mechanical can complete a performance test on your dust collector system and make recommendations for:
- System air-flow
- Pick-up point balancing
- Electrical control system diagnostics
- Compressed air system diagnostics
Ventilation System Maintenance
Our qualified personnel can perform routine Industrial Ventilation System (IVS) testing and maintenance. It is important to monitor airspeed and pressure in the ventilation system. The hood airflow speeds are tested using smoke generators or air velometers. If your IVS is not functioning properly, we can check the following:
- Are fan belts worn or broken
- Are fans wired correctly
- Has the ducting become clogged
- Check ductwork for openings, holes or cracks
- If the air cleaner is clogged
- If any dampers in the duct are closed
- If there is sufficient makeup air
- If any ductwork has been changed that would affect airflow
- If additional hoods have been added and if the system has been balanced correctly
- If the proximity of the contaminant source has moved
- If the canopy hood is located as close to the source as possible
- If access to enclosing hoods is provided
- If contaminant creation has increased at source
- If other ventilation components are causing cross drafts
- If the hoods have been modified to accommodate new process tasks
